This Privacy Policy explains how Iceland Car Hub ("we", "us", "our") collects, uses and protects your personal data when you visit icelandcarhub.com and book a rental car through our website. Iceland Car Hub is a car rental company in Iceland that rents out cars from its own fleet. For questions about this policy contact us at book@icelandcarhub.com.
2. Personal data we collect
- Booking data: name, e-mail, phone number, date of birth, country of residence, flight number, pickup and return place and dates.
- Driver data: driving licence details and the data of additional drivers, if required for the rental agreement.
- Payment data: the prepayment is processed by our booking and payment providers. We do not store full card numbers.
- Technical data: IP address, browser type, device, pages visited and cookies.
- Communication: the content of e-mails and messages you send us.
3. How we use your data
- To search for cars, create and manage your booking and send you the voucher.
- To prepare your rental agreement and your car for pickup or delivery.
- To answer your questions and provide customer support.
- To process prepayments, refunds and free cancellations.
- To improve our website, prevent fraud and meet legal obligations.
- To send service messages. We send marketing e-mails only with your consent.
4. Legal basis for processing
We process personal data under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and Icelandic Act No. 90/2018 on Data Protection. The legal bases are: performance of a contract (your booking), our legitimate interests (security and improvement of the service), compliance with legal obligations (accounting and tax rules) and your consent (cookies for analytics and marketing).
5. Sharing your data
We share your data only when it is needed to provide the service:
- Insurance providers that cover your rental car, in case of damage or a claim.
- Booking platform and payment providers that process your reservation and prepayment.
- IT and hosting providers that operate our website and e-mail.
- Authorities when required by law, for example in case of traffic fines.
We never sell your personal data.
6. Cookies and analytics
Our website uses necessary cookies to work correctly and analytics cookies to understand how visitors use it. We use Yandex Metrica, which may record visits, clicks and session replays in an anonymised form. The booking widget may set its own cookies to remember your search. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings at any time, but some functions of the booking form may stop working.
7. International transfers
Some of our service providers may process data outside the European Economic Area. In this case we make sure an adequate level of protection is in place, for example through Standard Contractual Clauses approved by the European Commission.
8. Data retention
We keep booking data for as long as needed to provide the rental and handle claims, and then for the period required by accounting and tax law (usually up to 7 years). Analytics data is kept for up to 26 months. Support e-mails are deleted 2 years after the last contact.
9. Your rights
Under GDPR you have the right to:
- access your personal data and get a copy of it;
- correct inaccurate data;
- ask us to delete your data;
- restrict or object to processing;
- receive your data in a portable format;
- withdraw your consent at any time.

10. Data security
We use HTTPS encryption, access control and trusted service providers to protect your data against loss, misuse and unauthorised access. No method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure, but we do our best to keep your data safe.
11. Children
Our services are intended for adults who can legally rent a car. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 16.
12. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The new version is published on this page with the date of the last update.
